ABOUT
Komal Ahmad is a globally recognised changemaker, humanitarian, and entrepreneur. She has gained acclaim for her innovative approach to addressing what she calls “the world’s dumbest problem.” While studying at UC Berkeley, Komal realised that hunger is not a scarcity problem, but rather a logistics problem. This realisation led her to establish Copia, a technology company supported by Y-Combinator, focused on food redistribution and waste reduction.
Komal’s visionary leadership has propelled Copia to become one of the top three startups led by women in the United States, as well as one of the top eight startups to graduate from Y Combinator. Her exceptional contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including being named twice to the prestigious Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Additionally, she has been recognised as one of the Most Powerful Women in the World by Entrepreneur Magazine, honoured as one of the Most Powerful & Impactful People in Business by Marie Claire, acknowledged as one of the Most Creative People in Business by Fast Company, listed among the Top 50 Most Badass Women in the World by InStyle, and selected as a Toyota Mother of Invention.
